JOURNAL to BLOG: Search for an interesting website focusing on our Constitution and write a 5-7 sentence review in your journal about the site you found, why you think it's a good site, and some of the information it provides that might not be available on other sites. (Be prepared to find a lot of sites - you will have to do some "skimming" to find the good ones.) Post the review to the BLOG when properly edited.
This is the website that I found: http://www.congressforkids.net/Constitution_delegates.htm
ReplyDeleteEven though this is a kids website, I found a lot of interesting facts that were similar to what we read for homework but was a little easier to understand. As I was annotating and reading and coming up with questions, I explored this site and it answered most of my questions! For example, in the article we all read, it said that Rhode Island was the only state that did not send a delegate to the convention. I wondered how come. On this site, it said because they were afraid of losing their state rights. You can also take a little quiz on it and look at several different sections like: Three Branches of Government, Bills of Rights, Signing the Constitution, etc... In general, the site looks like a quality one because there are not too many ads. I think it’s good to learn about a topic using different resources (kids and adult articles) since it gives us a different perspective and can be easier to understand.
http://www.kidport.com/reflib/usahistory/americanrevolution/constitution.htm This is a website about the constitution but in kid friendly form. Some of the words are not as complex as they would be in the real constitution. The quality of this site is good because you can go to this site for a essay you need to write or you can look at it because you are interested in the history of America. Although this site is for kids, you can still get really good information about the constitution. The one problem with this site is that there is adds; therefore, it could be distracting. This is still a really good website with a large about of information.

ReplyDeleteThis website is the Constitution. This websites contains the rules and laws that are in the actual paper version of the Constitution. Also the list of all the names that were signed on the website. It also has the names of the people and what state they are in. Such as the men in Virginia are John Blair and James Madison Jr. This happens to be a really good website with notes at the bottom of the page as well.

ReplyDeleteMy website that I found is called TeachingAmericanHistory.org and I like this site because it tells a lot about the history about the constitutional convention but also the build up to the writing and signing of the document. Also this website gives links to important parts of the reading such as the delegates names and other important articles that were created around that time. Those links are great because if you do not understand something in the reading, then you can read more about that one thing. IT really gives an understanding about the whole situation and what it was like and the opinions that were suggested. The information is very complete and understandable.
I found the website:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.barefootsworld.net/consti15.html
This is a great website because it not only gives a back round on the whole constitution but it is a very in-depth reading on everything one needs to understand. This includes a series of events that have occurred before and during the constitution. Different from other sites this has a serious look at the delegates and what they said that shaped our grate country today. This website provides an outlook of everything that happened and is not a kids website but is easy to understand and focus on. In our reading I felt like it was a good background but it hopped around a lot. In this site it shows exactly was happened. It makes you feel like you are really experiencing how the delegates felt when they were fighting for what that say is right. Instead of a long essay to read this website has ALREADY HIGHLIGHTED IN BOLD all of the important importation. There are also no ads to distract you from what is important so if you need a site on the constitution go
http://www.barefootsworld.net/consti15.html because it will learn and experience what really happened.

ReplyDeleteI chose this website because it allows you to truly understand what happened. It lists facts about the convention such as major challenges to governing through the Articles of Confederation, the location, the youngest and oldest delegates, the average age, and the president of the convention. It explains how Virginia and Pennsylvania were at first the only two represented colonies and how it took some delegates months to arrive. It also explains the three branches of government and how many of the representitives were outraged at the "national" aspect of the constitution because they did not want to loose their power. This website allows to follow the convention as it happens and learn thoroughly about how our countries became united.
Http://www.usconstitution.net/constkids.html is the best website for 8th grade U.S history because it especially made for students in 8th through 12th grade. It is written so that the information can easily be understood and learned. Not like those websites that have writings, that are meant for college students or professors, that are difficult to decipher. It explains about the Constitution and gives examples that demonstrate how the laws works. This website gives information about the present Constitution, the early Constitution, and the amendments that have been made. Http://www.usconstitution.net/constkids.html lists all of the important matters discussed in the Constitution like slavery and women. I strongly recommend this website to students who are beginning to learn in depth about the U.S Constitution. One can truly learn easily about the major points of our Constitution and their knowledge can be reinforced by great models of the complicated wording of the Constitution.
